We live in 21st century and it’s high time that we shrug off the old stupid superstitions and help all the lovely women to sparkle all throughout the year, including those 5-7 days per month. So, women take notes and keep these things always close to you the next time you are about to get your periods to keep those cramps at bay. And men remember these to help the women around you. Let’s ensure that we are no more living in 19th century and enter with a wider vision in 2017.

Water
Water doesn’t only quench thirst but can possibly solve all the health issues from choking to migraine and guess what it helps out through those cramps to. No not just using a hot water bag (though it helps) but just sip cold water. Cold water calms down inflammatory nerves that cause pain and cramps. So, drink more water when you are on periods also, it’s the easiest thing you can do for cramps. But don’t take ice cold water it might help with cramps but it sure will give you minor cold burns in your mouth which is absolutely not what you would prefer during those days.

Bananas
Just like water banana helps for many things, especially all the stomach issues. Many people don’t know the fact that bananas increase Serotonin which is considered as happy hormone and hence, have at least one banana per day during those wretched days (better if you have always). Not only will it relax your cramps but also make up your grumpy mood into happy.

Salads
Not a surprising thing! Everything that is mostly added in salad is rich in fibres and you shouldn’t ditch salad any more if you have been doing it all your life till now. Don’t tell us that you didn’t already know that raw vegetables have more benefits than cooked ones! There is a reason why people during the Stone Age lived longer than us modern people; the secret was eating raw vegetables and this is only thing that we should stick to during periods, shrugging off the taboos.

Green tea
Caffeine might be your go-to thing every day but try to avoid it during your periods (we understand it’s difficult). Have tea during those days and if possible have green tea. It will give you dual benefits relax your cramps and reduce bloating (YAY!). Oh wait! There is one more thing that green tea will ensure and it is beautiful skin, isn’t that great! Got your green tea stock ready already?

Dark chocolate
Well not girls are crazy about chocolates but those who are have this all day craving of chocolates during their periods and trust us they help because they satisfy your desire. So, chocolates indeed are a great thing during that time of the month but try to choose the healthier substitute- dark chocolate. Plain milk chocolates will increase bloating while relaxing your mind but dark chocolate will only do good to you. Good news, right!

Menstruation turns a monster especially because of the taboos attached to it. Time to help yourself and your loved ones! Periods are natural.

Time to actually have a happy period.
